It’s important to teach children the importance of eating nutritious meals at an early age. You don’t want your child to grow up eating fast food and other types of junk food all the time, such as chips and cakes. Although treats are fine in moderation, good nutrition for kids is the key to teaching children how to live healthy lives.
If you’d like your children to eat healthy, but you’re having a tough time getting them to eat nutritious meals, there are some things you can start doing to make the meals more aesthetically pleasing to the children. There are some great ways to sneak healthy foods into meals so that your children can benefit from the vitamins and nutrients they offer.
Make Your Own Nuggets
Most children love chicken nuggets, but the ones offered at fast food restaurants aren’t exactly the healthiest options offered. If you’d like to be able to offer chicken nuggets to your children without compromising their health, make your own nuggets for them at home. You’ll only need a few ingredients to get started, including chicken breast, panko bread crumbs, garlic powder, and an egg.
Start by cutting your chicken breast into small squares. Once you’ve cut all the pieces, throw an egg into a bowl, mix well, and then dip all your chicken in the bowl. Lightly bread the chicken with panko breadcrumbs and garlic powder and then bake the nuggets in the oven for about 30 minutes at 325 degrees F. This healthy alternative recipe is much better for the children.
Turn Yogurt Into Candy
Some children are picky about what they eat. Your children may be willing to try all kinds of candy, but they may not be so willing to try different types of healthy options. If you’re looking for a way to get your children to eat yogurt, you can turn the yogurt into a treat. Start by selecting healthy Greek yogurt in a flavor of your choice.
After you’ve selected the type of yogurt, pour it into a plastic sandwich bag, seal the sandwich bag and then cut the tip of the end of the bag off. Put a sheet of wax paper on a table and begin squirting small dots on the wax paper. The dots of yogurt should be about the size of a nickel. Add a few sprinkles to each yogurt dot and then place the wax sheet in the freezer for about 30 minutes.
Once the yogurt dots are frozen, remove them from the wax sheet and give them to your children. They’ll love these sweet treats. The best thing about the yogurt treats is that they’re healthier than cookies and other sweets your children may often want to eat.
Good nutrition for kids is a must. If you’d like to get your children on the right track, start serving healthy alternatives that still look good and taste even better. There are plenty of ways to sneak vegetable and fruits into baked casseroles and other dishes, too. If you’re creative, you’ll be able to make nutritious meals your children will love.
